Small daily habits can make a big difference in your overall well being. From staying hydrated to grounding yourself in nature, these simple health tips will help you feel your best every day. Below are some of our favourite daily non-negotiables!
- Drink a glass of water when you wake up
(Warm water is even more beneficial). Before coffee and breakfast. This helps rehydrate your body after sleep, flush out toxins, aid digestion, enhance skin health, and boost your energy. Be sure to drink plenty of water (with a pinch of natural or Celtic salt for electrolytes) throughout the day. - Skip the scroll
Scrolling on your phone right after waking up can negatively impact your mental and physical health by triggering stress, causing eye strain, and hindering your brain's ability to focus for the day with the risk of increased anxiety. Instead, try starting your day with activities like meditating, journalling, stretching, practicing mindfulness & gratitude, prayer, positive affirmations, reading and exercising. - Connect with nature
Grounding yourself and connecting with the Earth is one of the best ways to reduce stress. It can also boost your mood, improve blood circulation, enhance sleep quality, and reduce inflammation, among many other benefits working as a natural anti-depressant.
- Speak positively to yourself + others
Positive self-talk can greatly influence how you perceive life. Speak kind, encouraging thoughts to yourself, especially as soon as you wake and go to sleep, and try to stay positive whenever possible ~ your thoughts create your reality! - Practice mindfulness
Mindfulness activities such as meditation, journalling or deep breathing exercises, can reduce stress, improve focus, and increase overall happiness. Even meditating or sitting in silence for just 5-10 minutes a day can have a significant impact and help your brain to slow down. - Get plenty of sleep to wake up feeling rejuvenated
Consistent sleep is key to maintaining both physical and mental well being. Try to go to sleep and wake up at the same time everyday - even on weekends.
- Eat a well-balanced diet
Eating whole foods supports your mental health, general health, and weight management. Try to avoid overly processed foods and seed oils. Be sure to include plenty of fruit and vegetables in your daily meal plan. - Get your daily dose of natural vitamin D
Just 10 minutes of mild sun exposure each day can help boost your mood! If you work in an office environment, consider taking your lunch break outside. Sunlight helps your body to produce vitamin D, which may support in improving your mental health. Remember to protect your skin with a non-toxic sunscreen or natural zinc, shade or appropriate clothing, especially during peak UV times to prevent premature aging. Use a sauna regularly to help your body detox from everyday toxins and heavy metals. - Limit exposure to blue light
Technology is a big part of our daily lives, but try to limit exposure to blue light, especially at night and before bed. Consider investing in blue light glasses or adjusting your screen to a warmer tone to reduce its impact.
- Move your body everyday
Regular exercise plays a big part in physical and mental health. Whether itβs a short walk, yoga, dancing, weight training or even jumping on a trampoline ~ moving your body every day helps reduce stress, boost mood, give you natural energy and improve overall health. - Set goals + incorporate a routine
Following a routine and setting goals helps you stay on track, feel more purposeful and remain consistent. You can also try learning something new or picking up a new hobby to keep things fresh and motivating. Getting out of your comfort zone triggers personal growth! - Stay socially connected
Maintaining connections with friends, family, loved ones and even strangers is key to happiness. Social support helps reduce stress and loneliness. Make time to connect with others regularly, even if it's complimenting a stranger or sparking a conversation with the checkout attendant. One conversation can make someone's whole day and kindness is free.
